time for another Atom Landscape update. this time it is draft-rsalz-atom-adv-sec: Advanced Security Processing for Atom and APP Documents, which specifies encoding procedures beyond the basic XML Digital Signature and XML Encryption methods provided by Atom and AtomPub (the title of the draft should probably be updated to use the proper acronym for AtomPub). the draft proposes to use WS-Security for the encryption of parts of Atom or AtomPub documents, or for encryption for multiple recipients. since WS-Security is pretty tightly bound to the SOAP/WS-* world, it will be interesting to see how well this approach is received in the IETF community.
