apple just released version 1.0.1 of the iphone software. when opening itunes the next time, you will be notified of this update being available, and can then choose to download and install the software (the download size is 7.1 mb). as indicated by the version number, though, nothing important will happen in terms of apps or features.
it looks as if only some security problems with safari were addressed with this update. not that this is a bad thing, but i am of course desperately waiting to check off some items from my iphone to do list (soon to be updated with some more interesting ideas), but that will probably have to wait at least until version 1.1, or maybe even 2.0.
btw, it would be great to see a roadmap of iphone software versions and planned features, but unless some other device is threatening the iphone and apple needs to make some aggressive moves, i am pretty sure we just have to wait and see what apple thinks is good for us.
oh, and when you are downloading podcasts and want to pause them for the software update to download a bit faster, make sure to resume the software download, because this is just a regular itunes download which will also be paused by the pause all
button...
(( update: i think the new software caused my WEP-based Wi-Fi connection to stop working, and also reset the sort order of my contacts from Last, First
to First, Last
. ))
