apple unleashed the wrath of steve with their 1.1.1 software update, they have probably realized that it does not make sense to try to swim against the current forever.
currently, there exists no information whatsoever about the iphone SDK, and it will not be released before february 2008. it will probably be a pretty restricted SDK, designed in such a way that apps are constrained to the iphone look&feel, and that's good. hopefully, it will also include access to the iphone's basic features, so that for example i could finally replace the broken SMS app with something that actually works well.
and still, no news on flash for the iphone, which is good! the one thing i'd love to see, though, would be decent caching and something like google gears for the browser, so that it would be possible to write offline-capable apps for the iphone. if they did this, many apps could be authored as offline-enabled web apps rather than being native apps.
